I'm new to Proxomox and want to install my first productiv System. Hope to get some good Advises about the technical Directions and Hardware Recommendations from you as Proxmox Experts.
Available Hardware:
1pcs https://www.supermicro.com/products/system/1U/1026/SYS-1026TT-TF.cfm
-Each Node 2x XEON 2,7Ghz, 192GB Ram, no HDD's
( a second Supermicroserver with the same Specs is possible)
-Each node has just 1 low Profile PCIexpress 2.0 x16 Slot, Currently a LSI Raid Controller 128MB
6pcs Intel D3 S4510 250GB

1. HCI Ceph Solution:
Install 4 Node HCI Infrastructure with Ceph requieres 10GBE Network Requierements
-Buy each Server Intel X710-DA4 4-port 10Gbps SFP+ PCIe 3.0 x8 a 300€pcs/1200total
--runs on PCIe 2.0 x16 Mainboard
-Disk 1-2 SSD (Buy Intel D3 S4550 2TB) ZFS Raid 1
-Disk 3 Proxmox for PROXMOX
-Disk 4 SSD (Intel D3 S4550) HDD Journal
-Buy 10 GBE Switch
-Buy HDD's is enough, or do I need SSD's?
-Buy 5th small Server for Proxmox Backupserver
-Use 2x Gbit Onboard Bound for incoming Traffic
Future: Add new Server easy as HA Node and migrate them.
2. Raid Solution:
First Node produktiv System
-HDD 1-4 Raid10 PCI Express Controller (Or better Onboard with ZFS? Cpu workload?)
-HDD 5 inside (Intel D3 S4550) for Proxmox, as cache for the HDD's possible?)
Second Node
-Proxmox Backup Server
Future: Buy better Server and Migrate the VMs
Project requirements
-Runs Webserver Enviroments (trafik, Plesk, Docker, kubernates)
Even if it's on EOL Hardware, the Aim is to get a realiable System and sinful cost Solution. From HA with extra costs or Low Budget with Downtimes and new Server later.
