I have two nodes and multiple Vms and one Plex container

Proxmox Backup Server (sell r210) and sas dell tape drive unit runs on a separate machines and are powered up when needed via timed schedule on the PDU.

This setup work fine for Vms and Containers but im at a loss to be able to back up my (large 8tb) film volume on a Synology disk volume.

Is this possible, can I include the remote CIFS volume in a backup? also will speed be a major issue and also the automation with the PBS Going live and Powered down at different times of the day.

Network is switched 1GBe

Plex container runs on a PVE Node > HP desk pro single 1GBE Nic.
Synology DSM7 > has a two Bonded 1GBE nics Throughput around 85mbs

you can mount the CIFS share somewhere where proxmox-backup-client can run and do a file-based backup. but keep in mind that that needs to read ALL the date each time a backup is made, and that will likely take a long time (and possibly put a lot of load onto your network links and synology box).
