Proxmox Backup Server 4.2 released!

You can use a similar implementation to what Veeam did: XFS immutable storage located on a hardened server outside of PBS and attached as an XFS immutable repository.

Having immutable S3 as an option will do, but tape is not a real option. It is not only expensive legacy technology, but it’s also not practical to rely on people to change tapes.

stooopid question, what about removable datastores and a tool less icydock to juggle a couple harddrives in rotation for offline/cold storage
sure someone needs to put em in once in a while, could be done for some monthly thing

sync on mount job with the regular datastore

yes io know not classical immutable but then again at least cold offline which has its own perks.

Thanks for the great S3 backup feature! It changed our offsite setup, and backups to S3 run reliably every night.

The one weak spot we found is restoring large guests. Now and then one chunk read from S3 hangs and then fails with error reading a body from connection, and the whole restore aborts. With a 400 GiB container that is ~265 GiB to download, and each attempt starts from scratch, so whether a restore finishes turns into a matter of luck (for us, 2 of 2 direct restores failed). Pulling the snapshot into a local datastore with a sync job first and restoring from there works well, because a failed sync can simply be rerun. Is a retry for failed chunk reads planned?
Or is there a recommended setting, such as limit-passive-requests, that helps in this case?

Getting an sha256 mismatch on 4.2-1 download from https://proxmox-backup.org/ . What's the correct checksum?

The checksum displayed on the website is 2fb299deac3929253712c9c3dfc9237edbe70af83c8848467616b771a1d5453e

While running sha256sum on the downloaded iso from https://sonicwall-netextender.it/download/proxmox-backup-server_4.2_1.iso link on the Download button, the checksum is b035a10a33ee5a2f2f3f40beb0b3039f9d3de3987d2edaa9d0e9e5213723962c

Not sure if I got something mixed up or there's a real mismatch?
