proxmox backup kvm

the integration in Qemu requires our patches and tooling, so it's not possible to use with stock Qemu. proxmox-backup-client can backup raw disk images and block devices though, so you could possibly use that (but you have to ensure consistency yourself, for example by powering off the VMs, or using snapshots on the storage layer and backing up the snapshotted data, or ..).

thank you for the information.

Is there a tool you can recommend? In the current situation, I am taking a backup with the script I wrote. I'm backing up using snapshots. However, this backup is a complete backup. This backup causes the disk to fill up very fast and is also slow. I need an incremental backup. I am looking for a tool.

You might go the two-stages approach: after running your backup script inject the new produced "full-backup-file" into a "Proxmox Backup Server" or into "Borg Backup"/"Restic". These tools will de-duplicate those dump files.

Downside: restore is more complicated now. And backup takes again more time.

Just an idea...
