I'm experiencing this weird issue with Apt when using a http proxy (tinyproxy).

I have the following configured:
/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/99myproxy
Acquire::http::proxy "http://myproxy.XXXX:8080";

then when i run
apt clean
apt update
apt -y dist-upgrade

i get the following error on the first run.
note this happens only on the first run.
subsequent invocation of apt -y dist-upgrade runs properly.
but when i reboot the box after the first invocation and run it again, the error comes back.

that sounds like your proxy is misbehaving ;)

apt and the debian repositories ARE vanilla Debian though? the error also indicates that the proxy closes the connection, so you need to check on the proxy side what's going on..
