Proxmox 6 QEMU 4.0.0 Windows 7 Guest timing issue

Nov 11, 2018
Ran into this when trying to set up a Win 7 with GPU passthrough. QEMU 4.0.0 has a regression which seems to affect Windows 7 guests. This causes the timing of the guest to be sped up 5-10x.

The Red Hat bug report is here:

With additional details and some work arounds here:

QEMU 4.1.0 appears to have been patched, and the patch was backported to 4.0.1.

If you are trying to run a Windows 7 guest and the clock seems to be going really really fast, this could be the problem.
