Proxmox 3.4 on SSD / ZFS / TRIM

I would like to set up a new Proxmox 3.4 Server on a SSD.
The new installer offers the possibility to use ZFS as Host-File-System.

But here http://open-zfs.org/wiki/Features i have read, that ZoL has no TRIM Support!?
Should I better use ext4?

You just need to only partition a part of the disk. Rule of thumb is to partition 80-85%.

As I've read, my Crucial-M4 has Garbage Collection, so it should be ok to use ZFS without TRIM.

Hi,
I'm not sure that ZoL has no TRIM.
AFIK they included it for 1 Year.

According to the zol site there is no support for TRIM in zol: http://open-zfs.org/wiki/Features#TRIM_Support

I asked on the ZoL-Mailinglist and they have confirmed that TRIM is not supported yet.
Used someone SSD's under ZoL?

Some People from the Mailing-List said, that they use SSD in their Pools since 1-2 Years without any Problems.
So I'll try that too.

For safety, I have limited the Pool with a Quota of 80%.

What the status of trim zfs in PVE? My pool is at 84% an a have deleted files, but there no more space available.... search for a trim option, but also not found. ;(

Thanks for the info. But strange thing afer some time the SSD space is available again. So i think trim is working, but not immediately.

Strange. On Solaris and FreeBSD trim works immediately.

ZFS use feature@async_destroy for delayed delete block.
