Problem starting a VM

Hi,

I installed Proxmox yesterday and have managed to get three seperate VM's running without issue.

However, today I added another HDD to one of the VM's and when I came to restart it I get the following error:

kvm: combined size of system firmware exceeds 8388608 bytes

The VM then fails to boot.

Is anyone able to please tell me what the issue might be here?

Grateful for any help

Pete

Hi Pete,
does the VM start normally without the new HDD? If so, can you make sure the new HDD is a valid image file and has not been corrupted? (maybe attach the disk to any other VM and see if it works).
If it is a valid image you might be hitting a limitation of QEMU/KVM. To report a bug for QEMU you should retest with an "official" version first, since we are using a custom one.

Same trouble.
UEFI, fx440 or Q35 — doesn't matter. SeaBIOS works fine.

Caused by Xeon Silver 4110 in ```host``` mode.

Falling back to Broadwell-noTSX, running fine.
