I cant install Proxmox, because ther are partitons on the HD.

The problem:

- The Server is a 100 miles away...
- The HD of the server in a datacenter has some patitions (old LVM) on the HD.
- There is the Proxmox 3.2 CD in a CD-Romdrive
- Via AMT and vPro is a connection available.

Can I come via the SD to a shell to erase the partitions?

The installer kicks me out with partitions on the HD.

Thank you for your help!

Klaus

Should be able to boot with any linux live-cd and blow away the partition table.

Of course, but there is nobody to change the CD. It would take hours to get there.
Is there no way into a shell from the Proxmox CD?

I had no idea that it is not possible to install Proxmox from remote with a used HD.

Is this true? No way?

Hi Dietmar,

thank you for your reply.

No, the link don't help. I would love to have a running Wheezy an that 2 Server.

I was in a hurry when fixing the two server in the rack. I just set up the iAMT
and vPro connections in the Bios of the servers and decided to install Proxmox
later from Home.
I was sure this would be possible with Proxmox CDs in both CD-Roms and fully
working two SSD and two Sata HDDs per server. - I was wrong..

There is a testinstall on both server where all drives were used.
Is there really no possibility to install the two Server now?
The testinstall I can not boot any more, because I destroyed it with the first try
to install Proxmox.

Now I get a error in "/usr/bin/proxinstall line 177 " see:
http://188.165.151.221/threads/15790-Error-37-when-installing-from-a-CD

Thank you for any Help,
Klaus

Since in the meantime there was another reply the prepared answer became obsolete ...

If the install has a problem with the used HDDs I just need a lacal shell to erase them.

If the problem is different I have no idea what to do. - I get this screen:

Ups, the picture upload don't work:
You do not have permission to perform this action. Please refresh the page and login before trying again.

So I will write the mesage:

"Installation failed!"

and in the box:
"command 'chroot /target dpkg --force-confold --configure -a' failed with exit code 1 at /usr/bin/proxinstall line 177"

Hi Dietmar,

your help gives me a working shell. - But even with no partitions on the HDD I get the Error:

"command 'chroot /target dpkg --force-confold --configure -a' failed with exit code 1 at /usr/bin/proxinstall line 177"

What is going wrong there?

Yours,
Klaus

Yes, I even switched all sata ports off exept the cd rom and one ssd.
The ssd is empty. Whitch partition table is best? Uefi is switched off.

What is the size of the SATA disks? It could be a problem if these exceeds 2 TB. Using MBR is preferred. What about secure boot? Is that turned of? What about writing to the boot sector? Is this allowed in the BIOS?

- What is the size of the SATA disks?
Both have 2 TB. (of course a bit less)

- It could be a problem if these exceeds 2 TB. Using MBR is preferred.
I startet with MBR now they are MSDOS. Is this a Problem (under 2 TB)?

- What about secure boot? Is that turned of?
It is of.

- What about writing to the boot sector? Is this allowed in the BIOS?
I think it is allowed. The server did the ubuntu testinstall fine.

By the way:
Is there a way for a roundtrip to install from the recovery shell without rebooting?

install.log says:
invoke-rc.d: policy-rc.d denied execution of start

How can I upload a screenshot?
It says I have no permission.

Booting the Procmox 3.2 CD after a few seconds you have to press enter.

From there it takes nearly 10 minutes to the EULA screen... The Screen is just white
the most of the time. After you "agree" to the EULA the instalation is very fast again,
till it throws the Error at 100%.

Why is the second part so slow?

Both Computers have a I7 4700 and 32 Gig Ram.
