Persistent Wake-On-LAN option?

Hello all,

I recently installed proxmox 5.2-1 on my Dell poweredge r210 ii. I am using the built in NIC thats on the motherboard. I am able to manually enable WOL by using the command ethtool -s eno1 wol g where eno1 is the network interface. How can I make this permanent? Anytime I reboot or shutdown the server, the setting goes away and WOL becomes disabled so I cannot turn it on via WOL after the next shutdown. I tried using crontab -e and entered @reboot /usr/bin/ethtool -s eno1 wol g but that has not seemed to do anything. I tried some of the suggestions on the debian wiki for WakeOnLan but had no luck. Any ideas?

Solution i do by myself:

apt-get update && apt-get install ethtool
nano /etc/systemd/system/wol.service

[Unit]
Description=Wake-on-LAN for <interface id>
Requires=network.target
After=network.target

[Service]
ExecStart=/usr/sbin/ethtool -s <interface id> wol g
ExecStop=/usr/sbin/ethtool -s <interface id> wol g

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

systemctl start wol.service
systemctl enable wol.service
systemctl is-enabled wol.service
systemctl daemon-reload

I can't recognize any devices related to a WoL or ethtool.

"enp34s0" is your NIC. So it would be ethtool -s enp34s0 ...

thank you sir, something written 5 years ago just works on the latest version while countless documents fail to describe properly how to have this set persistently. That is that the output of ethtool eno1 should show Wake-on: g and not d.
Enable WOL in BIOS and do the above and it works for me.
Couldn´t find how to set this as an /etc/network/interfaces line, which may be better.
