[SOLVED] Perfomance Issues with HP SE316M1 + P410 incl. BBU

Hello,
thanks. Can you also post your strip sizes?

Code:
hpacucli ctrl all show config detail

Hmm, we now convert the Raid to 64k stripe size. before we use 256/512. i dont understand what is our problem, nearly the same HW and same configs. But 5 server with bad performance. unbelievable..

Seems like we fixed it by converting the RAID to 32KB/64KB strip size.
We are getting speeds up to 700 MB/s and over 1k iOPS.

Thanks for your help ;)

Best regards
Henry

yes, we dont look at it, 256k is the standard setting from the hp controller. now we learn it.

Hello!

Sorry to bring up and old thread, but I am having the exact problem with a ML350 G6 Server with a P410 Smart Array card.
I am running a Raid 5 Local Drive, with 3x4TB disks, and have extremely poor VM performance.

CPU BOGOMIPS: 11730.00
REGEX/SECOND: 1291119
HD SIZE: 22.79 GB (/dev/sda2)
BUFFERED READS: 1.82 MB/sec
AVERAGE SEEK TIME: 29.69 ms
FSYNCS/SECOND: 197.30
DNS EXT: 83.81 ms

As you can see I have also 256/512 KB strip size.

Logical Drive: 1
Size: 7.3 TB
Fault Tolerance: 5
Heads: 255
Sectors Per Track: 32
Cylinders: 65535
Strip Size: 256 KB
Full Stripe Size: 512 KB

Can I do this conversion online, or do I have to boot HP ACU utility. (Array Configuration Utility) ?

Yes, I tried to do it with hpacucli but I didn´t manage to find the right command, so I downloaded the HP ACU iso and booted up.
Just started a migration for a couple of minutes ago, as you can see on this picture.

So I guess i´m on the right track!

But, this will take really long time I guess!
Can I exit and reboot the computer, and resume normal operation, or do I need to wait for it to finish?

@TheeDude It's better if you don't reboot your server. It should be safe but unless you have backups I do not recommend to restart the host while the array is transforming.
