I am wanting to try to pass through some GPUs again on my system. I was able to get a GeForce GT 710 to work on passthrough but not the other GPU in the system a GeForce GTX 1060. I tried plugging into the various ports on the back to the monitor but got no display, I did confirm that the VM was loading and not showing any errors. I haven't tried setting up the machine to test yet again, wanted to get some feedback or advice on how to proceed before I formatted my system again.

can you post the vm config, lspci output?
anything in the syslog?

so I set up the machine and go it working with the 710 card no problem but when I switch to the 1060 card I get no errors in the web interface but I cannot get anything on the connected (to the 1060 card) display.

what does the syslog on the host, and the event log in the guest say? you could try to configure some remote desktop server in the vm and try to connect there to troubleshoot it

I did try installing the Nvidia drivers and then adding the 1060 back into the VM but still could not get an output. I did not setup VNC or RDP. I must admit I did try and find the syslog but was not sure where to look, I wasn't able to check the event log in the guest with the 16060 attached as I had no display.

I ended up stopping the testing and put the original hdds back in my system. I will proably try again as I have some time next week to see what is happening. My plan will be to install proxmox, updated it, install a windows 10 VM with vnc. install the Nvidia drivers and then try using the 1060 card again.

I did have to while setting up the node i did have to allow unsafe interrupts before I could pass any device though to the VM.

after much more reading and tinkering I think the problem is that I have not properly released the 1060 card from the Proxmox which is why the 710 works no problem. I have followed the available guide but I am still not sure what I am missing.

Hi,
You need to dump the vBios of the 1060 in hostpci0: 03:00,x-vga=1

Check the guide again, you will probably need a primary VGA to get to the 1060 vBios..
