PBS Installation failed on VMware Workstation 16

Hello friends,
I am able to run the installation of PBS on my computer installted on VMware Workstation 16. I am running 2 virtual disks (1 TB; 128 GB).
The installation is on a virtual CD/DVD.

1. The installation runs all the way to the end and even provides the browser IP (https://ipadd:8007).
2. I attempt to remove the installation media CD/DVD, but the VM is unable to boot.
3. If I leave the CD/DVD then the installation restarts

I am not really sure how to fix the situation

Any help will be appreciated.

Hey,

I assume /dev/sdb is the 128GB disk. Are you booting with UEFI or BIOS? I'm not sure how VMWare handles that, but for UEFI you'd need an EFI disk. Also, make sure you boot from the correct disk, usually you can select that in the BIOS menu. Are any errors shown when you try to start the VM?

Just brilliant! Before I start, thank you. It's fixed and I learned something new about VMware Workstation.

So, this is the story.

1. Following your advice, I tried changing from Bios to UEFI on VMware Workstation VM (which I have never done). It seemed like I was unable to change the setting under the Options tab > Advanced settings.
2. I tried adding a new drive but that produced the same issue. I tried opening the *.VMX extenstion to change the firmware as suggested by some old threads but that was unsucessful.
3. I decided to scratch it all and start new.
4. This time I selected Debian GNU/Linux as the OS instead of Ubuntu Linux (as my prior selection).
5. Went through the quick installation and voilà.
