Hi.
Tell me how to duplicate a physical PBS server? For example, the physical PBS server fails, the backups were saved to the storage system (connected via CIFS), how to quickly restore the backup settings, for example 120 virtual machines?
If you use replication, then you need to use additional storage space (increase in the cost of infrastructure) ... If I understand correctly, then you cannot use the same storage / folder with two PBSs. Interested in the option of transferring configs, or is there another option, if there was experience - please share

Hi.

I want to share the test results.
I managed to implement the following scheme

1. Two PBS servers are running simultaneously. Primary - PBS and backup RPBS
2. Copied the config /etc/proxmox-backup/datastore.cfg from the main server to the backup
3. Cifs partitions are mounted on two servers
4. Added 2 storages to PVI

5. Configured backup plans
6. Conducted tests on backup and recovery of virtual machines - the result is positive. Recovers from both the main PBS and the backup.
7. If the main PBS fails, you need to correct the backup plan - by changing the storage.

that is rather dangerous unless you prevent your spare PBS from writing to the datastore. PBS assumes full control of the datastore, and especially with network-mounted datastores this assumption can be easily broken.
