PBS Client on Debian 8 / Debian 9 / Ubuntu 18.04

Hello

Is there a workaround for running the PBS client on Debian 8, Debian 9 and Ubuntu 18.04 ?
I still have a few servers under this system and I realize that the PBS client is very limited and only works officially on Debian 10.

But... is there a possibility to play the data back directly? Or is it really only intended for backing up?

if you manage to build the proxmox-backup-client binary (without patching the actual source to remove stuff ) than proxmox-backup-client restore should work just as fine as proxmox-backup-client backup
