Hi,

We run HP servers with HP HW Raid controllers (like Smart Array 6i) that run Windows 2003 Server.

I'd like to be able to P2V these servers somehow but the instructions leave me a little confused.

What's the best way to P2V a server like this? Can I do it directly or should I go via VMWare Converter?

Thanks

Chris

I prefer the vmware converter (cold clone with live cd) method as I did this many times. which part of the wiki page is confusing?

It was this line that confused me a little: -

the physical machine has disk device /dev/sda (read this with "fdisk -l", and look for "hda" or "sda" or similar, NOT dm- or other...)

As one of my servers would have /dec/cciss and not /dev/[sh]da I wondered if this would work or not.

Other than that, my main source of confusion is self inflicted and not down to Proxmox or the wiki pages :)

I don't have a spare server to test Proxmox on currently so I'm confused because I'm having to think and imagine everything rather than being able to see and touch it.

Thanks for the reply.

Chris
