Hello everyone,

i have searched the forum for this but have not found any related posts.

Maybe one of you has an idea:

We want to use our own CTID/VMID Scheme.
In our case this would be something like vm845091 which would contain parts of the used IP range etc.
However when i create new Containers they get labeld "110", "111", "112", etc.

Would it be possible to change CTIDs/VMIDs after a container was created or to set them when installing a new container ?

This is pretty urgent to me.
Thanks alot and very much for your help!

you can set your own ID on creation, but only numbers.

ok. Thanks for the reply. I was not aware of that since i saw the field pre-filled with something when i created a VM. Is it possible in any way to change a VE/VM/CT´s ID after it was created ?

Thanks

if you are an expert, yes.

easy way: just backup and restore using another VMID.

Ok - and backup/restore with another VMID does not break the system or the VM itself ?

Also, can you please describe the expert way ? I can forward it to my administrator people.

Thanks
Stoney

the expert way is that the expert knows it.

why should a backup/restore break the system? in any case, you need to make yourself familiar with backup and restore, one of the basic admin tasks.
