OpenNode: CentOS Competitor for ProxMox

yes, I know this. We started with Proxmox VE 3 years ago, now 2 years online - and we have a lot of followers now - looks that we did a good job :-)

this is how open source works. we took a lot of existing parts and added something new, giving all our new code back to the community. these guys (or is it just one?) is trying to do something similar on a Redhat based system, good luck to his project.

Have you considered moving to CentOS? It seems to be the most prevalent OS on rented dedicated servers...

I am glad you didn't as I am much more familiar with debian ;), but an upgrade path from CentOS would significantly increase the number of servers I could have rented. Commercially it would open up the opportunities for RHEL qualified third party providers which would be quite nice as well.

We are a Debian company. CentOS is not a big contributor to the community (I mean code), in fact its just a 100 % copy of Redhat (and others) sources.
