Offsite backup

Team,

I got two node PVE v7.3-3 (clustered) running 8 VMs (id 100 to 107). I can backup / restore the VM on these two PVE nodes all ok.
In parallel, I got PBS v2.3-1 where these 10 VMs are backup like, if I look in command line on PBS, see picture.
Each VM got multiple backups (say 10 copies). The task I have to deal with to copy the VMs (latest copy of backup) to removable
disk for off-site storage requirements. The issues I see:

a) no way to distinguish 4 lettered directories inside .chunk folder about which VM associate what.
b) no way to rsync out the last back VM as a result of a) issue

Should I forget all this what I mentioned but do some other <better> way to backup VMs from PVE nodes without involving
PBS? The end goal is that in case of some failure, the off-site backup to be used the last source to restore VM.

Thanks!

PBS doesn't store individual backups. Its all mixed together because of the deduplication. So you would need to backup the whole datastore folder containing every backup snapshot. If you want an offsite backup, which is always a good idea, I would get a second PBS and then use the sync task to keep them synced.
As an alternative you could do additional VZDump backups to your USB disk.
