Hi everyone!
I have a serious problem at hand.
First of all here is the hardware setup:
Intel Xeon Gold CPU
Supermicro Main Board
NVIDIA RTX5080
My problem is as followed:
I have an Win11 VM running which got the 5080 via PCI pass through.
At first glance everything works like a charme.
The GPU was marked as not known and after installing the driver everything seems to be ok.
After an reboot of the whole machine every is working as intended.
Now here is the problem:
After rebooting the VM, the GPU is not longer there at the windows device manager.
Doing this a few times can also lead into total failure of booting the VM.
While digging deeper inside several logs, it is likely that there is some problems with handling the powerstates of the GPU.
As far as I can tell, the GPU goes totally missing on the PCI Bus after the VM restart
Attached you can find a few screenshots and all the packages I have installed.
So what did I do try solving:
1. Making sure active state power management is off at the BIOS
2. Adding option "pcie_aspm=off" to the grub file
3. Adding an vBIOS-ROM to the pci device
4. Making the GPU the primary on
5. Turning "ROMBAR" on off
6. A hundert different tries
Again, rebooting the whole machine and everything works fine again.
Regards
Chris
