No network in Ubuntu driving me nuts

I did a Gen 2 install of Proxmox in Hyper-V and the Proxmox install has access to the network and the internet without having to do anything. If I install Ubuntu Desktop 22.04.4 directly into Server 2019 Hyper-V there is no problem and Ubuntu gets an IP from the DHCP server during installation. I have tried the Virtio and E1000 models. I have assigned a static IP but I shouldn't have to because it should just see the DHCP server. I have spent about 10 hours trying everything I can think but can't get it to work. When I look it up people seem to just be able to select the E1000 and vmbr0 and it just works. Any idea what might be the problem here?

Tested on an old PC I have and it works fine, so has to be something to do with Hyper-V.
