hello all,

trying to activate IOMMU, to passthrough a pci card to a host.
upgraded to Virtual Environment 8.1.4

my motherboard:

That looks good, but that only leaves that VT-d (Intel's name for IOMMU) is not enabled (fully) in the motherboard BIOS or not supported by the CPU or the chipset. My guess is that the Intel P55 (14.5 years old) does not support VT-d, or did I not guess your motherboard chip correctly?.

EDIT: VT-d is mentioned in the manual, so I a bit confused now. Does your CPU support VT-d? What is your CPU? Is it enabled in the BIOS?

well, we changed CPU, now the VM cannot start..

There are two devices in group 15 (PCI(e) bridges don't count). Maybe you can fix the IRQ issue with a BIOS setting? Maybe pass them both through to the VM? Maybe make sure to have both early bound to vfio-pci? The usual trial and error of PCI(e) passthrough...

changed pci slot, disabled firewire controller, and pci card works.
