locking up?

It seems the vps locks up.
Strange as we can still ssh into the vps - but http seems to be dead.

Top shows zero load -

Server is an 8 Core Xeon with 8GB Ram - and only 1 other VPS on the server
running on Raid 50 array adaptec

any ideas?

lock up details

swap 1024 / ram 1024
should be more than enough...

Only thing strange in the log I see is:

Starting portmap daemon....
/etc/rcS.d/S55urandom: line 37: /dev/urandom: Permission denied
stty: standard input: Invalid argument
Starting system log daemon: syslogd.

if the apache is not running, there must be entries in the syslog and apache log inside the VM (see /var/log/syslog and /var/log/apache2/*)
