Hi,
I'm using Proxmox now since ~ 7 months.
First only at home for my private virtualization, some Windows KVM guests, Ubuntu Terminalserver for some Thin-Clients.
We've been talking long time where I work if we should make the step to go for virtualization. Finally we decided to set up a "test-server" for, let's say 4 months. And if all tests pass, we want to virtualize many services.
My actual configuration, which I want to shop looks like this:
___________________________________________________
MB: ASUS Z8NR-D12, Dual LGA 1366 Socket
CPUs: 2x Intel Xeon Gainestown E5520, 4x 2.26 GHz
RAM: 4x Kingston, 4GB, DDR3, 1066Mhz, ECC = 16GB RAM (just the beginning, we've got plenty of memory-slots available on the baord)
HDDs: 4x Western Digital SATA Raid Edition 3 Drives, capacity not decided yet - 4 Drives will run in RAID10-Mode on Hardware-RAID
RAID-Controller: Adaptec RAID 2405, PCI-E x8, 128MB Cache, 1x miniSAS to 4 SATA, with Battery Backup Unit
Additional NIC: Intel Pro/1000 QuadPort PT, 4x Gigabit-LAN over PCI-E x4(nice for the guest performance as we want to run an Asterisk PBX, then a own interface will bring good performance I think).
Chassis: Supermicro 835TQ-R800 19" Rack-Chassis, with Redundant 800W-PSU, 8x 3.5" Hot-Swap Drive Bays
___________________________________________________
So what you think of that constellation ?
Can I something make wrong with this configuration ?
Any recommendations ?
Thanks for your posts .
Kindly
