Hey everybody,

thank you for PVE 2.0, it's awesome (:

Today i upgraded my PVE 1.9 successfully to 2.9, every linux vm is online, also my Windows 7 VM, but i've got Problems with my 2008 R2-Guest.

I tried every NIC (RTL8139c, E1000, VirtIO) i created a new Guest and added the old-Raw-Files and was able to boot the Systems w/o any problem, but i've got no functional network yet.

I removed the Ethernet Adapter (with a yellow !, also the hidden ones) in the Device Manager, but there is no working network device.

Any idea what to do?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best Regards,

f.

Maybe with doing some hardware rescan in windows ?

i tried, then windows is looking for a driver, but can't find anything. After that i have a device called "Ethernet Controller" (with the yellow !) but still no working network interface.

Any other idea's?

That's strange because my other windows guest's are working properly.

Regards,
f.

Looks like a windows issue with the new hardware (new KVM).

Boot your Windows in safe mode (press F8 on boot), I assume this will be the problem solver here.

we have similar issues with windows servers. they do not like hw changes or vzdump restores. better do not touch them, or have an extremely skilled windows admin! ;)

savemode will help you, also devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices could help you out deleting all nics, so windows can begin counting with 1 :S

fun fact: i am a (skilled) windows admin ;)

i created an iso-image with the nic-driver, uploaded it to the host and installed it from the mounted iso image

Will try the Safe-Mode next time.

Thank you for help.

Regards,
F.
