Hello,

I have a question.

First of all i don't know much about the raid controllers.
I saw the Dell Perc6i Perc 6/i SAS T774H with NU209 Battery for write-back cache.
I have problem with the I/O delay ~10% and if it goes to more the server get blocked.
I now use software raid 1 and i hope if i use this card i get lower i/o delay or i hope the cpu don't get blocked if the i/o is high.
Later i want to use raid 10 with 2 more disk (i now have only 2 disk 1TB WD 7200rpm stat3) for better performance.

The question is: Anyone have any experience with this card or anyone know can i use this card with this motherboard? (MSI Z77a-g43)

Yes, very thanks your help but i want to ask other people to becouse you don't tell me you have any experience with this card in normal pc board. Becouse i read somewhere the perc card dosen't work fine with normal boards. I hope its not true.

Have you checked tried to update the firmware for your PERC6i, it can makes a big difference in the performance of the PERC controller.

I didn't becouse i don't have this card i only want to buy but first i want to know everything about this card. :) I don't want buy card if i can't use.

I only have experience with these cards in Dell Server and the only problems I have ever seen seen with these controllers and firmware and driver related (at this point this is considered a legacy controller by Dell and I see over 100 per year) The largest problem is incompatibility between the controllers and non-enterprise hard drive firmware. If you are going to use SATA hard drives you cannot use desktop drives they will not respond to the SAS controller fast enough and failed out of the array even though there is nothing physically wrong. In some cases the controller will not even create a RAID array. If you use something other than Dell drives I would suggest WD RE type drives the firmware is specific for working with SAS controllers. (I have 12 of them in use and have not has a single failure of any type from DELL Perc SAS controllers.)

I use WD Blue and Segate Barracuda with my Dell Perc controllers. I have never had any problems what so ever with these drives. Or the controller for that part;-)
