Monitoring Proxmox Backup from Icinga2

Hi.

My setup is made by a small 3 nodes PVE cluster, a PBS for storing backups from PVE and a second PBS syncing the main data store in the first PBS.

I use Icinga2 to monitor the health of my setup. No problem monitoring PVE by using check_pve.

I want to use Icinga2 to monitor the status of my Proxmox Backup servers. My main interest is to check that some LXC critical backups are properly done. Right now I must check manually every day. I'm also interested in having some performance metrics saved.

After googling a little bit I have found nothing. So, I must resort to this forum wisdom :)

Anyone has tried to monitor PBS from Icinga2 or nagios?

Thanks in advance,
Javier Vilarroig

Hi Javier,
PBS can export metrics to an influxDb instance. Just head into "Configuration", then "Metric Server" and add your InfluxDb instance (You need to enter the url and customize your organization, bucket and token). Hooking up Icinga with InfluxDb should then be easy (f.e. https://icinga.com/blog/2016/08/31/icinga-2-meets-influxdb/) :)
