I have two pieces of spare hardware that I am considering to use for Proxmox cluster.
intel i7-3770, 32 GB RAM
AMD 1700, 64 GB RAM

if I create the VM that does not use custom CPU extensions, would VM be able to move between the nodes?
Any recommendations ? - I read about disabling C6 state and using 'quemu' for CPU , anything else I need to be concerned about ?

Thank you

Offline yes but not online.

Hi,

Offline yes but not online.

Thank you Wolfgang,

Is the issue that CPUs are too old/incompatible to allow online failover?

or is the issue that there are only two nodes (you we need odd number of them more than 2 for quorum)?

the real problem I am trying to solve - if I create VM on Ryzen 1700 node, take backups of it and primary hardware fail. Would I be able to restore/restart that VM on secondary hardware?

No since Intel Meltdown/Specter Bugs this is not more posible.

Yes this is no problem. Only live online migration does not work.
