Migration from ESXI to Proxmox (extremely slow)

Thanks guys for adding that migration option. Works fine for some VMs. Tested multiple times with non-prod VMs, slow but acceptable.
I've got around 600-700Mbps, it took 30 mins for 100GB VM migration.

On the weekends I started prod VM migration (200GB disk size). I expected to get it complete in 1 hour. According the network graph I had same speeds (600-700Mbps) but at the Proxmox end progress was extremely slow. After 3 hours progress shows only 4% of 200GB complete. I stopped migration after more than 3 hours because it was not complete yet.

Any ideas?

PS: Please ignore those gaps on the graph. we have some dumps made every 15 mins to CEPH cluster with RBD.
PPS: ESXI GUI is unavailable during migration.

Do you have snapshots? There were reports that you need to remove them before migration to get decent performance for migration

I'm experiencing this issue right now. I was told there were no snapshots but there in fact were. The Disk names had that weird 000001.vmdk suffix.

Right Click -> Snapshots -> Consolidate solved it for me. Looks like VMWare had lost track of the snapshots.

Good riddance to this awful and now extortionately priced piece of software.

Also, the WebGUI is completely unusable for me as this migration is happening, but that I can live with.
