Migrating a VM Between Two Proxmox Servers from Different Providers

We currently have a dedicated server from OVH where we installed Proxmox and set up several VMs, including:

• pfSense VM
• Production VMs
• Development VMs

Our issue is that we’re reaching the local storage limit on this server, we’re considering purchasing another dedicated server from a different provider (not OVH).

The new server will also run Proxmox, and we plan to migrate our Development VM from the current OVH Proxmox server to the new one.

Questions:​

1. Is it possible to migrate a VM between two Proxmox servers from different providers?
2. What is the best way to do this?

Would love to hear recommendations from the community on the most efficient and reliable way to migrate the VM.

I would try the "easy" way. Put a PBS "In the middle", reachable from both sides. After migration. Decom it.

Another way : Proxmox datacenter manager can migrate VM between two PVE.

we still didnt bought the dedicated server from other providers but my question is it possible that vm from old proxmox host talk to vm in new proxmox
or should we have the new proxmox in ovh to be able to do that

if we use different providers we need vpn
but in case we have both server in ovh we dont need vpn is that right?

it depends, you need vRack to get private network.
