we used shared nfs storage with connection to vmware and to proxmox, we moved our vm`s to nfs, than convert their to raw, attach converted disk to created vm on proxmox, then moved disk from nfs to rbd with proxmox... profit

Hi,

we will switch from vmware to proxmox. The tests are very nice, we only have to migrate the vmware VM's to proxmox. Those are flat.vmdk's and the disks on the proxmox hosts are on ceph.

I found this manual: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Migration_of_servers_to_Proxmox_VE#VMware_to_Proxmox_VE_.28KVM.29

Its helping me a lot, but the RBD is not really a directory with a disk-file.

Does anybody know how to migrate a VM to a proxmox ceph disl?
Hi,
simply create an VM with local storage (if your local storage is big enough) and copy your flat-files on this VM-files.

Depends of your vmdk-format (years ago the vmdk-flat-files which I copy was raw-format...).

If the VM boot with this settings use the storage migration to ceph like blowfish already wrote.
