Hello,

i must create a kvm with more than 50 different vlans in it. I have creates now over 20 vmbr bridges in proxmox without a probleme. Now i want to assign the vmbr to the kvm but the container didn´t start. If i assign more thanx 9 network devices to the vm, the machine didnt start. Is there a limit to assign maximal network devices to a kvm container?

In a openvz container i have created more than 20 vlans without any problem.

Can anyone give me please a hint to manage more than 50 vlans with kvm in proxmox? Is there a better way to handle so many vlans under a vm?

Regards, Valle

Hi Dietmar,

thanx for the fast answer. Is there a other way, to handle so many vlans with proxmox and a kvm? or better use openvz? Do you know how mutch vlans openvz handle?

Hi,

have tried difference things but nothing helped me. Can you please advise me how to handle this?!
Hi,
i think thats not so easy. Perhaps you can try to use pci-passthrough for a dedicated NIC, but your host must not load the module for that card (perhaps moduleoptions, or a separate type of nic?).
With that construction you can only move the vm to a server with the same NIC on the same pci-slot...
Perhaps for this way is a real metal better?

Hi Udo,

thanx for answer. For a workaround i use a metal. But for long time use, i will transfer it to our cluster, if there is a way. Our servers are pizza boxes, must look, if there is a place for a pci-slot over for that.
