Is 192.168.1.96 your PMG?
Have you configure relaying and relay domain to your local SMPT server?

For outbound mails (from your network to the internet) - you need to add your internal network in GUI->Configuration->Mail Proxy->Networks
and configure your internal server to use the internal port (26) of PMG

I hope this helps!
