Hello,

I have a Proxmox Backup Server with 150TB doing backups every night to more than 350 machines in a cluster with 25 Proxmox nodes, these are done in parallel, sometimes at night, in random machines are frozen, you can not enter by SSH and the services inside are blocked and you have to restart the virtual machine completely, I thought that adding qemu_guest_agent in all Linux systems and activating the agent in qemu would solve the problem, but no. I have limited the backup to 200Mbps.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Is the backup job for that frozen VM finished? have you checked the status of that VM using the QM tool e.g: qm status <VMID>

if the bottle neck is your PBS instance, you need to stagger the backup jobs. especially for VMs, where the backup I/O sits in the regular I/O path, and if the backup gets really slow, all I/O of the VM will be slowed down as well.
