Hello,

i've got question regarding the licenses. we have one domain, but we also have two email-adresses at, which need to be included. do i really need a commercial license for 3 domains for this project ? or can i find a solution for this problem to use the "free" license ?

thanks

Hi,

we license per mail domain. i.e if you have two mail domains you need the 3 mail domain license:

yourdomain1.com
yourdomain2.com

(ie. email1@yourdomain1.com and email2@yourdomain2.com)

if you have just one mail domain you can also use the free version with limited functionality. But always unlimited users (email addresses). I hope I explained it cleary, if you have further question, just post.

hi tom,

thanks for your reply. i've read about the free license. for the "normal business" we have just one domain. so the free license would fit. but, unfortunately there are also two adresses which our customers know for
a very long time - they are adresses from the freemail-provider compuserve and the other is an adress of "t-online.de". the easiest way would be to delete this 2 adresses and to only use the "normal business" domain, but i am not allowed to do this.

the problem is, that i cant forward these adresses...

thanks

hi,
proxmox is a proxy product filtering emails, but only if you run your own mail server. so for the two email addresses you mention (t-online.de and compuserver) this is not the issue.

Do you have an internal email server for your standard mail domain, which one?
Can you access the t-online.de and compuserve mailboxes via pop3? If yes, there is a solution.

hi tom,

we have a exchange server 2003, based on a small business server 2003.

and yes, i can access the adresses via pop3, this is the way we do it right now.

the reason to use proxmox is for mail relaying.

firewall --> proxmox as smtp-relay for our domain and these two adresses (based in a dmz) --> exchange 2003.

at this time we use a pop3-connector (popcon) to access our mails, but we want to have a direct connection to the internet with a static-ip-adress.

hi tom. you said, there would be a solution ?

can you please help me ?

thanks
stefan

hi stefan,

in version 1.7 (available in February) we implemented a pop3 downloader.
For example, I use this to download every 5 minutes my google mail account via pop3 and send it to my standard email (t.huber@proxmox.com).

hi tom,

thanks for your reply. will this feature be avaible in the "free" version ?

Stefan

thanks !

so i will start to get familiar with the mail gateway, and hope that the new version will be released soon.

thanks for your help. this kind of support you provide is as important as the software itself and makes the difference to other projects.

Hello,

Another issue related to licenses... ( sorry i don't speak well in English)

Each license is valid for one server, therefore, for two "Socket" !!! I think that is okay.

abe is that mean that the number of core per processor does not matter ??

For eg: My server x2 intel Xeons x 8 cores total. How many licenses is needed ?

Thank you very much.

Cordially.
