Large RAID Support

Has anything been done to enable large volume support? And what I mean is RAIDs that are over 4TB? Previously I had a problem with RAID 5 on a 4 x 1TB system and had to use RAID 10 (only 2TB total).

With drives getting larger and larger, this will be a serious problem. We need a lot of storage in our solutions. I am pretty sure this is just something that is enabled in the kernel?

If this is the case, please advise how to do this.

Thanks
Marc

Proxmox VE will support SAN in the standard setup soon (FC, iSCSI, AoE,....) so you will have more possibilities to access storage.

Here is a Wikipedia article about the limit and the future.

But as efi bios is still not standard we have to live with the current limits and the workarounds.

No, it is a limitation of the DOS MBR (Master boot record). The simplest way to solve it is to join serveral disk < 2TB using LVM2.

How is this done? Basically I want to have 8 x 1TB Drives attached to a nice Adaptec card... But Proxmox errors out when trying to install. It can't handle that RAID size. DOS has no trouble with it.

Do do I use this LVM2 in Proxmox?

Thanks

how big is the raid volume, which controller? which OS do you install successfully?

this is more complicated than I was hoping for. Is there a way for proxmox to mount containers in different volumes? that would seem easier.. like when you create a container, you pick the volume you want to put it on, including like a share point.
