Hi good people from Proxmox,

I assembled a lab with a cluster with 2xCompaq AMD 2.5 ghz (identical machines) + share storage with DRDB. All works fine until i try the live migration..... After migration the VM always freeze.

I try:

Windows XP - freeze
Windows XP +virtio network - freeze
Ubuntu 8.10 - freeze
Ubuntu 8.10 + virtio disk and network - freeze

AFAIK that a problem with KVM on AMD - hopefully this gets fixed in the next KVM release.

Live migration works on my machines (or seems to).

My boxes are AMD:

4850e
5050e
be-2350
athlon II x4 620 (not tried yet)

The only problem I have is if I move a "gui" machine (f12/ubuntu karmic) and then I lose my keyboard & mouse. Ping/ssh still works it seems.

Nice hear from you....

You are using 1.4 ? LVM+DRBD ? Tried Windows XP ?

Hi,
we have two nodes - one Sun-Blade with two Opteron 2224 and a "workstation" with one Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+.
Live Migration with windows freeze, but with Linux works (with pve 1.3 and 1.4). I have a suspicion that this comes due the different prozessors, but perhaps not?

I try somethinsgs (with ubuntu 8.10 32bits):

1) Start in recovery mode : After migration Vm is not freeze but some action in keyboard make then freeze

2) Start normal, but stop network: After migration Vm is not freeze but some action in keyboard make then freeze

Now i tried Debian 5 64 bits (amd64), with basic install and network: Sme result - After migration the machine freeze and 100% cpu used.

Anybody have any idea ?

I make more tests:

1) Install a guest Debian64 with 2 cpus - live migragion ok
2) install a guest ubuntu8 with 2 cpus - live migration fail
3) change ubuntu8 to 1 cpu - live migration ok

Now i will test with ubuntu 9.10 64 bits.....

I figure out this problem is when the guest use 2 or more virtual CPU. With singleCPU all works ok. In my envronment....
You can live migrate guest with multiples CPU/cores in your instalation ?
