Since I have upgraded my V8.3 Proxmox server from kernel 6.8.12-8 to 6.8.12-9 I have noticed a measurable increase in power usage. It appears the server idles "a lot" higher than the previous kernel version.

My idle power usage (with 2 VM's and 3 containers running) was 13-14 watts with 6.8.12-8.
My idle power usage with 6.8.12-9 is 20-25 watts.

Is anyone else noticing an increase in power usage?

As I am running it as a server at home I am trying to stay as energy efficient as possible. The CPU is an AMD Ryzen 5 5560U.

Ah yes de QEMU-KVM was also updated. I am going to try the HPET fix as posted in your link.

Edit: I have added the argument '-machine hpet=off' to my affected VM's and can confirm idle CPU and power usage is back to its original values. Thank you for your help.
