Issues installing Debian VM

Hello,

I am new to Proxmox and I am unsure if this should be posted in this forum, or elsewhere. Proxmox installed beautifully. I am attempting to create a vm using the current Debian iso image which I have uploaded into /var/lib/vz/template/iso. I am able to successfully create the vm and start it. I enter console to finish the installation of Debian and I am presented with the graphical installer. Using the keyboard I am able to move the selection, however, if I press enter on either 'Graphical install' or 'Install' nothing occurs. I am, however, able to navigate into the 'Advanced options' sub menu.

I am at a loss. I do not know how to get the Debian installer to actually install into the vm.

Advice and suggestions appreciated!

I've installed lots of debian(including the last 9.X), but I never had choose the graphical install.
The text install works like a charm.
I am unsure how to start a text install then, I guess? I am presented with a graphical screen with a menu containing 'Graphical Install', 'Install', 'Advanced options', 'Help', and 'Install with speech synthesis'.

I am using the debian-9.8.0-amd64-netinst.iso imagine.

can you post your vm config ? (qm config ID)

Alright. I have done a couple of steps for troubleshooting since my OP. Originally I had installed Proxmox over Debian. I have since reinstalled Proxmox using an offical iso. I have also attempted to use Ubuntu 18.04 instead of Debian. Same issue. First screen comes up to choose language. I am able to press "Enter' there. Get to the main menu, and pressing 'Enter' on the install feature does nothing. Very frustrating.

Here is the vm config for the Ubuntu vm:

balloon: 4
bootdisk: scsi0
cores: 4
ide2: local:iso/ubuntu-18.04.2-server-amd64.iso,media=cdrom
memory: 16
name: ubuntu-18.04
net0: virtio=E6:56:2C:84:DA:C1,bridge=vmbr0
numa: 0
onboot: 1
ostype: l26
scsi0: local-lvm:vm-100-disk-0,size=128G
scsihw: virtio-scsi-pci
smbios1: uuid=aee0eb61-0d40-427b-a930-43e34d38268a
sockets: 1
vmgenid: ba030362-2f6e-4f43-a9e0-5c80f1e01526

Thank you.

I think I found the issue, but I am not sure why it was an issue....initially I was attempting to use 4-16mb for memory. However, when I left the default of 512mb it works.

I don't really want 512mb got this VM, and I am not sure why this was even an issue.

Can someone explain that to me? :)
