Issues Booting Proxmox 8.2.1 ISO in UEFI Mode on Dell R720

Hello everyone,

I'm encountering an issue while trying to install Proxmox VE 8.2.1 on my Dell R720 server in UEFI mode. Upon booting from the ISO, I receive the following error messages:

Welcome to GRUB!
error: file '/EFI/' not found.
error: no such device: /.disk/info.
error: no such device: /.disk/mini-info.

Here are some steps I've already taken to troubleshoot the issue:

1. I ensured that the downloaded ISO file matches the provided checksum on the Proxmox download page.
2. I tested other ISOs (from different sources) in UEFI mode on the same server, and they booted without any issues.
3. I used both Rufus and balenaEtcher to create the bootable USB drive, making sure to select the appropriate options for UEFI.
4. My server's firmware is up to date.
5. I verified that Secure Boot is disabled and that the boot order is correctly set.

Despite these steps, the error persists. Has anyone experienced similar issues or have suggestions on what else I could try? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I found installing Proxmox in UEFI mode on 12th-gen Dells is unpredictable.

Luckily, the VMs are already in BIOS mode, so just installed Proxmox using BIOS mode.

However on 13th-gen Dells, Proxmox UEFI install with Secure Boot enabled works fine.

Go figure.

Hmm.. weird. I use balenaEtcher and it works every time. Have you tried using Ventoy?

I always manually format the drive, then use either balenaEtcher or Ventoy and let it format the drive again and then boot via USB.

I have to disable Secure Boot because Proxmox does not boot if Secure Boot is enabled.

I'm having almost the identical errors trying to install Proxmox VE... were you ever able to get this resolved?
