I setup a AWS storage gateway with a virtual tape library. I managed to connect it to proxmox backup server with iSCSI. (I followed the instructions here)
PBS can see the changer, the drive and the tapes. However every time I try to create a backup I get the following error:
Loading the tape works OK, but trying to label it also produces an error:
This is the message in the PBS syslog;
The tape has been loaded into the drive so it should see the media?
Incompatibility with the virtual tape drive the AWS storage gateway presents?
The tape itself was created with 1500GiB size as I believe that's the maximum size for LTO5. (The AWS console allows creation of tapes up to 5TiB however)
Any ideas what might be wrong here?
I would love to get this working as the tapes will be auto-archived into AWS Deep Glacier as soon as the tape drive ejects them.
[UPDATE] Looks like I'm not the first to try this. I get a different error however.
