Hello,

I have 3 raid arrays on our server. First Raid has the O/S. The other two will be for storing VM's. On my third Raid array I've also created a folder called library. In this folder I have stored all my .iso files. Through the Proxmox Gui under storage I've created a Directory called library and given the path to this library. I've then selected content to be .iso and enabled it and shared this library. Then under permissions for this library I've added my admin group to ensure my admin userid's can assess this library and I've added root as well and given it Administrator access just to be sure. This library folder has 12 .iso in it.

I then login under root but the content in this folder is empty.

What do I have to do to ensure my .iso files show up?

Thank you.

I had hoped to keep my .iso files in a directory on a different raid array. But if Proxmox can only see them in /var/lib/vz then I'll move them there.

Thank you.

If you really want this you could make a link from the folder on the other array to /var/lib/vz/template/iso

Hi greavette,
of course you can store the isos on a different raid array. Read the post from Dietmar!

If you select as content ISO on the storage will be created an subdir template and inside this directory the subdir iso.
E.g. If your storage ist mounted to /mnt/raid ist should have the structure
/mnt/raid/template/iso # from pve; where the iso file should be
/mnt/raid/library # where you store the iso files
or
/mnt/raid/library/template/iso # if you define /mnt/raid/library as storage-dir.

You can choose between move the iso files to the template/iso subdir (on the right raid volume) or create an link (instead of the iso-subdir) to the right directory.

BTW. you have select shared - this is not right, because it's mean that the same storage is on other cluster nodes accessible but the raid-volume is only local!

I had missed Dietmar's meaning with his post. Thank you Udo for clarifying this for me. Also, thank you for clarifying for me the meaning of Shared. Your help is much appreciated!

Not a smart or intuitive way to handle this, this one has driven me crazy as well. It doesn't handle sub-directories either, btw.

if I add a folder for ISO's, it should start in the ROOT of that folder, and both allow navigating the subdirectories, but include ALL ISO's in that tree.

Thanks, dietmar. Can you point me to some documentation that would list basic information like this? I also didn't know that qcow2 files go in /var/lib/vz/images. The GUI gives no clue as to the location of image files and has (apparently) no mechanism for importing them from anywhere else. So, I have to copy the required files into the Proxmox OS, but don't know where they should go.
