Hi,

So excited about proxmox 4.2. But I still run a proxmox 3 cluster, with no HA and clvm on iSCSI.

But I read migration from 3 to 4 is not that easy
Is it a good to idea to add a new proxmox 4 member in the cluster ?

My plan is :
add new member in the cluster
while there exist proxmox3 member :
migrate VM from one of the current proxmox 3 node to the new proxmox 4 node
remove the proxmox 3 node from cluster
reformat the proxmox 3, using proxmox 4
join cluster

No, you can't mix PVE 3.x and PVE 4.x. But if you use shared storage you can simply shutdown the VM on PVE 3.x and move the .conf file to a PVE 4.x node and start the VM. This way we migrated many VM's from PVE 3.x to 4.x without any problem and almost zero downtime.
