Hi, I need to upgrade a node from 2.1.1 to current version to solve problems with GUI, BUT it has running machines that I can not stop.

The procedure is according to http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Downloads to make an aptitude update && aptitude dist-upgrade, and then reboot the machine to activate new kernel.

Can I upgrade system (with running machines) and do not perform the reboot ?
Will it solve problems with GUI not refreshing correctly ?

Regards

if you upgrade the kernel, you need to reboot to activate the new kernel. if you don´t reboot, you still run the old kernel.

all other updates are applied immediately expect the kvm module. to use the new kvm, you need to stop the VM and start again after the upgrade.
