Hi All

I have a qcow2 image of Redhat VM.
My understanding from the storage guide is that only directory backend that supports qcow2 image.

My question is if I have imported a qcow2 image on the directory backend, can I instantiate a VM on some other storage type, like LVM ? I want to use LVM because it can be shared across hosts.

Second question, if the answer to above question is yes, then what would be the format of the VM's disk on LVM storage? Will it be qcow2 or automatically converted to RAW as soon as I use the storage for the VM?

Yes, you can use " qm importdisk $VMID $PATH_TO_QEMU/$OSIMAGE $STORAGE" where $STORAGE can be either file or block, PVE will correctly convert the file as needed.
