I don't know if it can considered a bug, but I noticied that istalling Proxmox VE (both 4.x and 5.x), into disks that was already used for installation (test or ...), cause many types of problems.
It can simply not complete the installation or complete it but you last having a system that is a mix of the old installation and the new.
I solved my problems using gdisk and wipefs -a from a rescue disk to remove all the old stuff, but I think that the installer can handle this better ;-)
Thanks for your work.
P.

Did you use latest stable 5.0 ISO? There was a fix for such problems between 5.0 beta and the final 5.0 ISO.

Same problem with proxmox-ve_4.4-eb2d6f1e-2.iso downloaded some months ago.

Please define in full detail what you mean with "many types of problems".

As soon as we got the details of your issues, we can try to fix it.

I can only reports what I remember, not a full diagnosys.
For VE 4.4 I remember that If I tried to install into an already used disks, it merged the installations. I finally found files from the previous install in what I suppose to be a fresh clean install. Same if I remove the partitions using fdisk and also with gdisk (not 100% sure)
Today I tried to install VE 5.0 into a disk that already have a 4.4 installation.
Rememembering the previous problems, I erased the files in pve-data e pve-root partitions and deleted partition using fdisk.
The Installation process failed claiming it can't access sda3 partition because already in use or something similar.
As I told, gdisk and wipefs -a solved my problem.
I always used ext4 as file system.
Regards, P.
