and what problem are you having now? still does not recognize the hard drives at the time of starting the installation?

Exactly.
Proxmox installer works fine, and recognize my 6 disks on the HBA H240. Il install it on ZFS RAID10.
When rebooting after install, I see :

----
Attemting Boot From Hard Drive (C:)
error: unknown device 2.
Entering rescue mode...
grub rescue > _

If I use rescue boot from the Proxmox USB stick installer, I see :

----
error: no such device:rpool.
ERROR: unable to find boot disk automatically.

Press any key to continue..._

Ok i haved another error in my HP, it didnt install because didnt recognize the disks...

Did you selected the boot order in the storage devices correctly in the BIOS?
HP has 2 "boot order" (one is the Storage Card, and the other is the order in that Storage Card).. put your H240 at first..

Yes, boot ordre is correctlly set.
I think that if I see the grub prompt, everyting is ok in the bios...

yes you are right... did you try with another ZFS Raid mode ? like ZFS RAIDZ2 ? just to see what happen...

I am out of ideas... :(

If your MB is UEFI you can try to set the boot devices from the UEFI Bios... the H240 has a UEFI menu if i am not wrong...

I tested with Proxmox 4.4 and ZFS RAID10 : no boot :-(
Still stuck in grub prompt :-(

I have a similar problem with G7 and H220, and G8 P420 in HBA Mode,
I have installed the Proxmox successfully on ZFS Raid 1, but it doesn't boot.
Tried all the suggested solutions with no luck.
Any idea would be appreciated.

Hi,
I think the simplest way is to plug a usb stick somewhere in the case and install grub on it !
I finally add a pci ssd and installed proxmox on it (ext4 ?).
I use the raid disks only for storage.

I did not manage to run the proxmox with the H220 ... apparently there is a compatibility problem with the grub driver and sas2

I solved it by placing an HP H240 that uses the sas3 driver and works wonderfull
