Installation issue when using High Point Rocket Raid 2640x

We have a need for a VM solution and I hear lots of good things about this software. I decided to install it on one of our existing servers that has a hardware raid controller from High Point (model 264x). According to its documentation it supports Debian but when installing Proxmox VE from the ISO, it cannot find the newly created RAID (which was done in the bios).

It appears that I need to load the driver which is provided by High Point but I cannot find any way to load it.

Is there any way that I can overcome this issue or this controller does not support?

This question is also interesting to me.

In a week I plan to install proxmox on a server using a HighPoint RocketRaid 2680 controller. If I make any progress I will let you know...

It might be an option to install proxmox on a blank debian lenny as described in here: http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Install_Proxmox_VE_on_Debian_Lenny

I made the experience that its a very bad idea to use the HighPoint RocketRaid 2640 in RAID mode on productive systems. Ridiculous performance and reliability... no more precise comparisation necessary... :-(
