I downloaed the proxmox iso and then burnt it on a CD and then popped it into the machine, but to my surprise, the screen goes blank after I press enter after the 'proxmox splash screen' and the installer CD also stops spinning. No output, no error messages. :( Any pointers?

please start the installation in debug mode (just type debug on the splash screen).

what hardware do you use? CPU, Mainboard/Chipset, Graphic Card, Network, Disksystem?

Even with debug as option, the screen goes blank :( The hardware is: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/aa/e...75933-7475933-12799004-12799108-78024329.html with 2GB RAM

looks like an issue on the graphic card (vesa 2.0 compatibilty). the HP site does not show that this desktop system is working for Linux.

I have several older and newer Intel mainboards (also desktop) here, e.g. INTEL DG35EC with integrated Intel Grafik-Media-X3500, working without any problems.

You can try changing the graphic card (add a pci-express card) if possible or wait til a newer kernel from us will help (but no guarantee).

Zenny, this sounds tupid, but you might want to try it nonetheless: after the screen goes blank, turn of your monitor and then turn it back on...

I once spent an afternoon switching ram modules, hd's, cables etc. breaking my head why the system stopped after the first screen...finally in desperate anger I turned the monitor off and on and behold, it was just the monitor going blank on some init or something

just a regular TFT monitor, it only has this with this one server.
It was a new server, I even called our supplier to ask what was wrong with it
Its now a proxmox test server ;)

Erwin123: Thank you for sharing your experience. But that is not in my case as I handle four different servers with a kvm switch. However I tried a separate kvm to the server that I wanted to install proxmox in, yet without success. Like tom stated above, it may have to do something with proxmox kernel. I can run other OS like CentOS, Vanilla Debian and Slack as normally in the machine except proxmox :( :'( I am desperate to try proxmox, indeed.

I am asking the Proxmox developer that how can I manually download the source of proxmox and then apply the relevant patch and then install proxmox ve? I am pretty excited, indeed. Any pointer or hints or tutorials will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your promptness to respond!!!

which patch do you mean? pls give details, we are just building the beta2 release and we can include it.

im having the same issue with the M4A785-M with the same CPU

im figuring its the onboard video, so im trying to find a PCI or PCI-E card to try in it, but i cant find one yet, tomorrow im going to bring in a old ATI X850XT (extreme overkill but its for testing hehe) and see if that works
