I checked forum, and found some old threads concerning this. I know Proxmox can run on headless server, with no graphics adapter. I know Proxmox can be installed over Debian which can be installed on headless machine.

But it is "less than optimal" for me, as I would loose that nice "all-zfs" possibility Proxmox installer offers. So I'm asking if Proxmox alone can be installed on headless machine, using only serial-port. Looking how easy it is for Debian (just one kernel-parameter on grub-screen) and considering Proxmox is somehow "based" on Debian, I think it should not be difficult to implement it for Proxmox-installer too...

AFAIK, the installer only supports GUI, so there is no tweaking around this.

What I used in headless-scenarios is to install it inside of another Proxmox VE and copy the disks over serial-booted live debian. I installed Soekris and APU boxes with this and it works very fast and reliable.

Hi,
i have some very small headless boxes with an MiniPCI Express connector. During Install I connect there an china-adapter form minipci to pcie with an simple graphic card.
After installation I remove this stuff and use the boxes headless...

What an interesting idea! I never knew such an adapter existed. I'm not sure if my headless mini-box can detect miniPCIe-GFX, but it has miniPCIe-slot (and usb for keyboard) so it is definitely worth trying! I'm going to order some miniPCIe->PCIe riser on aliexpress right now...
